A hands-on journey into electric vehicle design and engineering
What started as a personal challenge turned into an incredible learning experience. Despite having no prior experience in mechanical engineering or electric vehicle design, I embarked on the journey of building an electric scooter from scratch, starting with a children's scooter frame. This project became a testament to the power of self-directed learning and hands-on engineering.
The process was both challenging and incredibly rewarding. Coming from a business and technology background, I had to learn everything from scratch - from understanding electric motor specifications to mastering welding techniques. Each obstacle became an opportunity to learn something new, and the satisfaction of solving these challenges was immense.
The project began with extensive research and planning. Despite my lack of experience in mechanical engineering, I dove headfirst into learning CAD design using Solidworks. The learning curve was steep, but incredibly rewarding. Each component was carefully designed and tested virtually before being manufactured.
The manufacturing process was a journey in itself:
What made this project special was the combination of technical learning and practical problem-solving. Every day brought new challenges, and each solution taught me something valuable about engineering and design.
As someone with no prior experience in mechanical engineering, I faced numerous challenges that required innovative solutions:
Each challenge was an opportunity to learn and grow. The satisfaction of overcoming these obstacles was immense, and the knowledge gained was invaluable.
The final product exceeded all expectations. Not only did it perform better than anticipated, but the learning experience was transformative. The scooter achieves impressive speeds while maintaining stability and safety, a testament to the careful planning and execution of the project.
What started as a personal challenge became a demonstration of what's possible with determination and a willingness to learn. The custom design elements not only enhance functionality but also give the scooter a unique, professional appearance that reflects the care and attention to detail put into every aspect of the project.
I shared the complete journey and more details about the building process, including the challenges and triumphs along the way.

This project reinforced several important principles that extend beyond engineering:
Most importantly, this project showed me that with enough determination and willingness to learn, you can tackle projects outside your comfort zone and succeed. The experience has given me confidence to take on new challenges and has broadened my perspective on what's possible through self-directed learning.
